Part of Quonquont's charm
comes from its variety of natural habitats. In addition to the apple
and peach orchards, we maintain several acres of hay meadow in which
we delay mowing to promote grassland-nesting birds like bobolinks
and meadowlarks. There is a spring-fed farm pond, ringed by cattails
and home to frogs, turtles, salamanders, dragonflies and fish. Quonquont
Farm encompasses the Whately "Dingle" — a lovely valley
of flowers and ferns intersected by a small brook. The farm's hemlock
and hickory woodlands extend back to Bull Mountain and the Conway
State Forest.
